So I have neglected this ‘ere blog for a while, eh? Well I’m here now and preparing to give it some TLC and more time and attention in general….

So today is a day at home because my body has done a full on FAIL. So to keep my mind off the fact that everything Hurts Like Hell I’ve been amusing myself by reading the debate that Amanda Palmer set off on Twitter about Lady Gaga’s latest offering. Swinging between people accusing Palmer of being jealous, agreeing with her, mocking Gaga or just generally commenting on the state of the music video, the OP has retweeted some of the (no doubt many) responses she recieved and I found it quite entertaining in my addled state…. and all this appears on my main twitter home page interspersed with Gok Wan’s randomness.

In another web mini-world, I’ve seen many people’s status updates expressing their distate at what’s happened with Darling’s 2010 Budget. Most of that has centred around the rise in duty on cider (can anyone explain to me why it’s been treated differently?)

Also unimpressed that pharmacists can still refuse to provide prescribed medication on the grounds of their religious beliefs. Especially seeing as sometimes contraceptive drugs can be prescribed to help relieve health problems! Being told where you could go and get the drug from instead isn’t a fantastic solution if there’s only one pharmacist in the area….

Anyway.

Big Black Boots

Posted by Nicky on Friday Nov 20, 2009 Under music, randomicky, web gems

So my head has been bits the past two or three weeks but I think it’s not far off being ok now. I’m looking forward to seeing Lis next weekend and having a break from being domestic for a couple of days ;)

Looking for inspiration for something to write about tonight (because I’ve got an itchy blogging muscle) I’ve just had a quick scan of the entries I wrote in November during my first year of blogging and oh-my-god there really was a scary-over-sharey-TMI post. Even my toes cringed. Pleased to say that I won’t be going into that much detail about something like that again.

Saying that, blogging did do some good for me. It gave me some continuity during my nomadic years, and has left me with some awesome friends (did I mention I’m going to see one of them next weekend?) When I’ve been feeling shit I’ve found it can be quite therapeutic to get the crap out of my head and into black and white, even if it’s only to hit the delete button or to lock it up so that only my closest friends can read it (and there’s been times when I’ve been really glad I can do both)…. and even if I don’t lock it there are friends who can read between the lines of babble. There’s probably some psychology in that somewhere.

Of course there’s always music to get lost in… especially when you’re rediscovering old friends in your collection and tracking down that track you’ve always liked from that band. One of them I randomly found in the Boy’s collection…. here’s a vid of it being performed (it shouldn’t auto play so you have a choice whether to watch or not!)

And so I shall hit send on this little bit of self-centredness and go back to stalking people on Facebook….

(ps: I do, indeed, have a pair of big black boots, which I wore when I had long brown hair…. there’s some photos out there somewhere….)
